Ghada Shbeir غادة شبير

Specialist and professional performer of traditional Middle Eastern folks and Arabo Andalusian songs, Syriac and Ancient Maronite chants, Ghada Shbeir has an exquisite talent and the ability to move easily and with professionalism from traditional folk songs to religious chants. She has earned frequent comparison to some of the best Middle Eastern singers.

Born in Lebanon, after graduation from
high school, Ghada Shbeir moved to the USEK (Universite St. Esprit - Kaslik - Lebanon) to pursue a music career. Her big break came as a soloist of the USEK choir that highlighted her professional talent throughout the media.

After earning an advanced degree with high distinction in traditional Arabic music performance, Ghada Shbeir received her Master's degree in Musicology from the same university. Due to her unique style in performing, she became a professor of traditional Arabic singing techniques at the USEK, AlMuwashshah singing techniques at the Lebanese University and sacred Syriac chants at the National Conservatory of Lebanon.

Furthermore, she participated in several festivals, concerts and conventions. Ghada presented a lot of conferences in Lebanon and all over the world (Paris, London, Canada, Estonia, Slovakia, Greece, Egypt, Oman, Abu Dhabi, Spain, etc.) She has also worked with “Enchordais” for five years. During this period, Ghada performed in many concerts and festivals, in addition to registering with “Enchordais” a CD containing traditional Arabic music. Furthermore, she is working, not exclusively, with Zaman Production, in France for organising concerts in Europe.

غادة شبير خريجة جامعة الروح القدس الكسليك، حائزة على إجازة في العلوم الموسيقية سنة 1993، وديبلوم في الغناء الشرقي سنة 1996، وماجستير في العلوم الموسيقية عام 2000، وديبلوم الدراسات المعمقة في العلوم الموسيقية سنة 2005، وتحضر الآن لدكتوراه في العلوم الموسيقية. لها عدة اسطوانات وأصدرت كتابين هما: “الموشح بعد مؤتمر القاهرة 1932″ وهو سلسلة دراسات عن الموشح، و”سيد درويش، الموشح والدور” وهو يتناول تنويطات لكل موشحات وأدوار السيد درويش، وارتكزت فيه على تسجيل من متحف باريس بصوت درويش الحريري من مؤتمر القاهرة 32 وقابلته مع مؤدين آخرين واستخلصت عن طريق المقارنة من هو أقرب لأساس اللحن، وترجم هذا الكتاب إلى ثلاث لغات هي الفرنسية والإنكليزية واليونانية.

ولدت غادة شبير في بلدة غسطا، وتقول بأنها كانت كلما همّت بالخروج من البيت مع الصديقات قال لها والدها: “قومي بما ينفعك أكثر”، هذا ما جعلها عاشقة للكتب، وفي مكتبها تقضي معظم وقتها تبحث وتستمع إلى التراث الموسيقي القديم.

وموسيقياً، تأثرت شبير بمحمد القصبجي، وتقول بأنها كلما استمعت إلى لحن جميل فتشت عن واضعه فيكون القصبجي “فعرفت أنني قصبجية الهوى”، وتأثرت بسيد درويش الذي تعتبره أهم من قدم الموشح من دون منافس.

فازت الفنانة غادة شبير في مسابقة BBC World Music Awards للعام 2007 بلقب “أفضل فنان في مجموعة الشرق الأوسط وشمال أفريقيا” عن اسطوانتها “الموشحات” الصادرة في مايو 2006 والتي لم تدهش المهتمين بالطرب العربي فحسب، بل وصل صداها إلى العالم بأسره فجاء فوزها للجائزة تتويجاً

لهذه الدهشة وذلك الصدى.
